Meet the Coaches

Coach
Josette Deuchars
I am a former school teacher and owner of a fitness studio, where I instructed and coached for 5 years. Teaching has always been central to my life so making the transition to pickleball ambassador was a natural progression for me.
I am an experienced player who has played and competed in both Canada and the US. My proudest accomplishments include a 4.5 gold medal in women’s double and a silver medal as part of an MLP team in the US.
My coaching approach emphasizes strong fundamentals, purposeful drilling and effective court strategy. I am committed to continual learning and improvement in my own game and enjoy sharing that growth in a clear, supportive and structured manner.

Teaching pickleball is my “Passion Project”, and I would like to offer clients private lessons, semi private or small group.

A friend introduced me to pickleball and I have been completely enthralled in the game ever since. As the former captain of the Queen’s University Men’s Golf Team, sport has always been a cornerstone of who I am. Pickleball has brought a fresh perspective on competitiveness, community and the joy of sport.
I have extensive experience in the golf world as an instructor and club fitter. This translates well to the pickleball court where I enjoy nothing more than seeing people develop the “bug” for improving their own game, and tinkering with gear along the way!
Pickleball is a lot like golf in the sense that everyone has their own unique style. My goal as a coach is to identify that style and encourage players to cultivate it instead of fitting into a mold. I myself am constantly trying to add new things to my game and want to support players to be creative in the same way!

From the first time I picked up a paddle, I was hooked, and I haven’t put it down since.
That passion drives my love for helping others discover the sport and develop their skills.

I coach players of all levels, from first-timers to advanced players looking to elevate their game, whether for local play or tournament competition. My coaching style is supportive and fun, with a strong focus on fundamentals, smart strategy, helping develop “your game” and building confidence while enjoying the process.

After years of competitive hockey, I was looking for something new and my father introduced me to pickleball. After being defeated by his friends, I realized there was alot more to learn about this sport and I was hooked.

Whether you're picking up a paddle for the first time or looking to take your game to the next level. My goal is to create a fun, supportive, environment where players can build confidence and develop new skills and enjoy the sport as much as I do.

My passion is constantly improving my own game and competing in tournaments across Ontario. I enjoy working with players of all ages and skill levels. Whether it's helping a beginner build strong fundamentals, local youth to develop skills and confidence or a competitive player refine their game. I find it incredibly rewarding to be part of that progress.
